Hey guys,

I take only 100mg Trazodone at night for depression and as a sleep aid. I have almost no side effects and this med seems to be working great for my depression, except for just a couple things.

Shortly (about ~20min) after taking it, I lay in bed waiting to fall asleep and get scary feelings and bizarre, spooky thoughts. Not to sound scarier, but I even get a slight sense of "impending doom", and in the moment, my feelings of depression come back, intensified and with a more "scary" feel to them, and sometimes with a slight wave of panic. And it doesn't end there. My dreams are creepy, vivid and incredibly detailed to a point where it's unsettling and almost disturbing.

So after last night while waiting to fall asleep with these feelings again, I thought I've had enough and considered calling my P-doc a.s.a.p. However, my depression does seem to be lifting and the spooky dreams have sort of faded over time, but not the feelings before falling asleep, which are getting pretty annoying, let alone continuing to freak me out. Other than that, this med seems to work relatively fine for me.

I'm not sure what to do, so I'm wondering─does/has anyone had similar experiences with this med? How did it end up working for you overall? Did you "tough out" these feelings and continue to take it, or did you stop taking it?

Thanks for your responses.

it is something that may wear off the longer you take it, but it is worth talking to pdoc about. when it comes to meds, you have to weigh the benefit the med is giving you against the side effects. is it taking away enough of the depression to make it worth the feelings you are experiencing before you go to sleep?
