Does anyone else have this side effect? I wash my face with soap and water during my morning shower and before I go to bed at night, and some weeks I try not to pick at my zits and other red spots on my chin and around my mouth, but it's still there. I miss having a clear complexion. I thought it wasn't this bad before I went on the lithium and risperdal early 2012 in the hospital, and the other day a friend confirmed it for me: she said she saw me gain weight and my face break out when I came out of the hospital.
I don't know if there's anything I can do about it while I'm still taking the meds, besides continue to wash it once or twice a day and try not to touch it too much (though it does itch quite often). I am just frustrated that I'm experiencing this possible side effect from the meds I was forced to take, and wanted to know if I'm the only one or not. Thanks for your input and have a great day. |

I was on Risperdal a year, no zits. Added Lithium and I broke out in my very first bout of backne! Was horrible I sympathize. I stopped having break-outs when I quit my meds but Innoxa Young Solutions Wipe Out was a life saver. Killed the zits as they appear. I still use it bcoz I'm prone to an ugly stress zit or 2.

Same for me when I was on high doses of lithium (1200-1500mg). The acne came by cycles. I was fine for a while and then I would get it and so on. I was treated by a dermatologist and I was doing a lot better. A good advice she gave me: Not to put anything on my face. This means, no make-up, no night/anti-wrinkle cream and not even sunscreen, even if it says that it will not induce acne on the label.
Good luck. |
