I've been taking Lexapro for a few years now and taking 40mg for a year now. Its now been almost two months since I went cold turkey. Now, I'm curious to know why I didn't get any withdrawl symptoms until now! Only in the past couple weeks I've had terrible nausea, Shakes (the first 5 days), Diarrhea, Fatigue, and Dizziness. I've been reading that these occur usually days into cold turkey but for me that isn't the case. I'd like to know why i'm getting them now and if i should expect more to come. Thank you.

ssris stay in the blood/body for a long time after you start taking it. Why were you taking 40mg? That's twice the maximum dose you could get serotonin syndrome or do you mean that you're on celexa (citalopram) instead of lexapro (escitalopram)

Maybe you need the med and your body is telling you . It is a long time for withdraw but I had the same thing with Prozac many years ago. 3months after I was hit with a massive depression, and guess what. The Prozac would not work second time round, took me 3 meds and a year to get stable. you have done a crazy cold turkey on a high dose of med.

My psychiatrist had told me that all of it would be out of my system by now and the symptoms I have aren't so severe. I have not had shocks or any other debilitating side effect. I've beaten my depression now I believe because I feel way happier and healthier now that I'm off of it. The thing is that the symptoms i had are not nearly as bad as when they first started a week and a half ago.
