I had my hopes up when I saw an ad for Cymbalta* and it said that it can be used for Depression (got it), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (got it) and the chronic pain of osteoarthritis (got it). I've been trying, with no success to get something to relieve the pain I have due to osteoarthritis in my spine. I can't take NSAID's. I take between 9 and 12 Tylenol #1's most days. I'm really worried about the effect all that acetaminophen is having on my liver. I've talked to my Nurse Practitioner and my Psychiatrist about it and neither of them want to give me anything else. I don't know why and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Has anyone suggested you try Milk Thistle to help prevent liver damage?I'm certainly no expert on the subject and it would obviously need to be approved by your medical advisers, but I do recall reading that milk thistle could help in situations where other medications have a nasty effect on the liver.

Can you get a referral to another person who could prescribe it? Did your doctor give you a reason for not prescribing it?
