My risperdal was increased over a month ago and I noticed I've been blinking excessively every so often. A lot of people have noticed including patients at work, friends, and family. They keep asking me what's wrong and some people are making fun of me for it since it's abnormal. I'm more worried about professional appearance since I'm in the medical field with undisclosed disabilities (bipolar, autism, adhd, and anxiety). I would hate to stop this med since it has helped significantly with my hallucinations and has made working much easier. Is it bad that I'm blinking so much? Can it be stopped or will it go away on its on? Thank you for reading this post and I hope I get some responses.

That's a potentially serious side effect as it could be the first sign of Tardive Dyskinesia, which is serious and may not go away when the drug is discontinued. Definitely call your pdoc.

It's Sunday and the facility is closed, I have to wait until tomorrow :/
I don't see my psychiatrist until October though, what would I do for an anti psychotic? I don't want to hallucinate at work and I don't want to go back on zyprexia or abilify. They made me so sluggish that I didn't want to do anything on them and gave me blurred vision. |

There was another thread that had a similar question. You might want to try taking Benadryl and see if that lessens the blinking.

Hey bubsmiley, do you remember the name of that thread? I'll ask my psychiatrist about it when I get the chance to talk to him.
