I didn't take my anti-depressants today. I just felt like they're useless because I feel depressed today again. So when mom asked me at dinner if I took my pills I lied. So what I need to know is: what kind of repercussions could this have on me? Is this dangerous? Oh and I've been thinking of taking my meds every other day. I want to wean of that useless piece of crap. It didn't save me from myself today.

Depends on what you're taking... or not taking as it were.

Most pysch meds have to be taken for 3-4 weeks to take effect. By not taking the new meds you might really be messing yourself up. You haven't given them time to act and you might go into some kind of wierd withdrawal symptoms that could make things much worse. Please go back to taking them until you can consult your pdoc about this. OK to say to him/her you don't think they are working and are discouraged about taking them, but take them till you do the consult with them. OK to call the doc's office to get a resolutiion that way, though.

I'm taking Prozac (fluoxetine). I have been for 3 weeks. I will see my T in two days. I will bring it up then. Two days won't kill me. See when I'm not depressed on the medication I just feel nothing. I'll get a spark of happiness when someone cracks a joke, but it isn't the comforting fire most people know. I am even more paranoid lately... It may or may not be the Prozac. I'll look into it with a doctor.

Three weeks is probably a too short time to see a real difference. Six weeks and you should see at least some change.

Please speak to your doctor before you stop taking the tablets. I thought they werent having any effect so I stopped taking, then a few days later I started being physically violent to the people I love and tried to commit suicide. I never expected any of it. Fluoxetine is not a drug to be messed with, even if you havent taken it for long. take care! x

That's weird... I just realized I haven't been angry in maybe two months... Huh. I am begging for any kind of anger, pain, or sadness I get from stopping fluoxetine.

I think I could limit the problems if I took one every other day. I still have plenty fluoxetine left.

Don't take a dose every other day! You are only messing with your brain and forcing it to constantly try to adjust. That is the worst idea.

If you want to try the drug, give it four to six weeks taking it every day to see if it works. If you continue feeling numb, violent, angry, worse, etc, wean off the drug because that isn't a proper treatment. If for any reason you don't want to be on the drug, wean off gradually taking the same dose every day.
