I was prescribed Equetro time release. This is pretty much the same thing as Tegretol and the generic is carbamazepine. I was on Lamictal for about a year before I quit taking it on my on. Had a bad rash, and even though it was not THE rash. I stopped taking it and the Wellbutrin.
Finally went back to my pdoc who said because of any rash that we'd do something different. You have to be careful because the white and red blood cells can be affected - bloodwork. Anyone else on this med or ever been on it? Anna |

My daughter took this medicine for 10 years (every 6 hrs) for her seizure disorder before she passed away and she cont' to take it despite a small reaction to the medicine for the benefits out way the dangers..... we gave her Benadryl on a daily basis to cope with the mild allergic reaction she had to it.

Sorry about your daughter.
My autistic son developed seizures from taking Zyprexa a few years back. The Zyprexa had lowered his potassium to barely noticeable. As a result of continued seizures, he was put on Depakote for about 2 years. Really packed on the weight but we never knew just how much his mood was altered until they decided to take him off of it. It had been the only thing he was taking at the time because I was so afraid of giving him anything. So I am aware of it's affect as a stabilizer. He is now on Trileptal which has no side effects and has been good. I'm hoping this Equetro can have the calming effect without making my depression worse. |

Wish I had seen this post earlier. I have been on equertro for about 6 months now and I love it . It did cause dizzieness and nausea for about a week but after i got used to it in my system I have had no problems at all . And it did not cause weight gain like the others I was on . I dont know anything about the blood cell issues you spoke of though . hope this helps.
