It's been a long time since I was on Wellbutrin. I think about 3-4 years ago. I think that was the stuff that sent me into my first true mania (I am bipolar). But I don't remember anything about hair loss. I know I lost hair on Topomax though so it is possible.

I've been taking Wellbutrin for awhile and it hasn't caused hair loss for me. Are you taking anything else? I however had MAJOR hair loss from taking Depakote - not to mention weight gain, tremors, and ringing in my ears. I recently switched to trileptal and I am hoping it will have less side effects for me.

I also am bi-polar and experienced mania as never before when I first started Wellbutrin. The Dr. only wanted to start me on one new drug at a time. For the two weeks I was taking the Wellbutrin without a mood stabilizer, I was unstoppable. Once the depakote was added it was ok. But the side effects from Depakote for me are horrible. I am now trying trileptal. I hope it is better

Nope! No hair loss from Welbutrin. However, you should REALLY get your blood checked for thyroid disorder cause hair loss is one of the symtoms. Thyroid disorder and depression often go "hand in hand". I suffer from 'Hashimoto's syndrome", an autoimmune disorder wherein your antibodies attact the thyroid gland and others as if it were a diseased organ. Caused severe depression and dillusional behavior for me for awhile before one of my many doctors decided wisely to check for it.
I would say this for everyone here; Always check to see if there is something physical or environmental causing your disabilities and make changes! m.b.

moodyblu, I agree 100%. I always check thyroid functioning before treating any mood disorder or anxiety. Feel free to stop in on my chat this Friday 2.30-3.30 EST.

Thanks for the offer! However...I'll be working then so I'll not make that. Sorry.
Dr. be sure to bring this issue to the forfront though cause so many people are suffering needlessly when their own Dr. does not order a thyroid balance blood check. I went unchecked for months while being treated with various antidepressents...that did NOT work! Thanks again...m.b.
