I'm from Spain. I need you to answer this if you can. I need your opinión much more if you are not American and live in another country, so you can help me with my question. I've been wondering for days who has a problem in the relationship with the pdoc, if it's me or him (and along with him my mother) and since my mother says "I'm a difficult person", I am wondering if mental treatment standards are different along the world and I am asking for a kind of treamtnet I won't find in Spain. Or it is him being a bad psychiatrist?
He's a psychdoc that gets angry a lot with me, when I ask him about my medication (antipsychotics), sometimes he contradicts himself. Specially he doesn't understand me. The other day I asked him about my diagnosis (something that I would have never known if i hadn't asked him) and he told me (sic): "I had phenomena of perception of things which doesn't exist" (to me it sounds psychotic but I don't know) and I told him, "then I have schzophrenia?" not in a know-it-all tone but rather in a "I wanna know" tone, and he got super angry screaming at me, trembling like he was a bomb about to blow. I don't want to go to a psychologist, because it won't work and I don't want to, but he doesn't want me to go because "it will make me think" and "I don't need thinking" The second day I saw him (long time ago) I asked him "what do I have?" (my diagnosis) and he said screamig: "YOU HAVE NO MENTAL ILLNESS!". He never told me my diagnosis, or mayb he did and I just didn't get it. I must know all this I know because I am an informed patient (which is not the same as a patient who doesn't confide. Although right now I feel like I was a person with no ability to trust, maybe the fight with my mother has left me like this). By the way, he prescribes Orap, Deanxit and Lorazepam. It's also been some days I want to get off antipsychotic meds (because I don't like them, and whatever, it ain't up to him why, anyway if I told him why he wouldn't listen) and I tell him for him to help me with the taper off (because I know if you leave an antipsychotic out of the blue you can have problems) and gets angry and he tells me if idon't want to take the pills i'd rather dump them to the bin and that's all. I think he souldn't behavelike that. I think also he doesn't believe in DID. One day I suggested I feel like I was many people inside, and he said I feared having a "broken" personality (his way, i suppose, to mean DID) and he said i didn't. i insisted, not in being okay because i hadn't "made up my diagnosis" just because i wanted to be Heard and evaluated...and he got very nervous and said "YOU DON'T HAVE THAT! THAT DOENS'T EXIST". How can you change your mind so quickly? Then I told him about Kim Noble, the famous painter with DID, and he told me it was false, etc... Is thereanyone I can ask these questions to? It's just that I think my pdoc should be different. Maybe all Spanish psychiatrists are like this and the treatment I'm looking for I won't find unless I go to an English speaking country or the USA. Thanks for Reading. |

My experience shows that very pdoc is different, and thus does things differently from others!

That kind of behavior from a psychiatrist is inappropriate.

They can be a law unto themselves, when a shrink near killed me with bad med treatment we had a real shouting dual. I felt i wanted to deck him but he was a massive black guy and I was wreck, even so security was called ,.But he had damaged me when I needed help , he was sacked a month after over another matter. But the NHS in England give any one a job who are qualified could be just months with no experience in the wards , they just read out books and take a stab at any med that takes there eye.
