I asked this question in someone else's thread but it never got answered.

I've been on Lexapro for almost three months. Just recently the doze was upped to 20 mg. I'm experiencing added anxiety. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them.

Then today I had a visual disturbance. I'm not sure what it was but it could have been something to do with the migraine auras I get sometimes. Things got shadowy and blurry then I saw a lot of tiny pinpoints of bright light dancing in front of my face. About 15 min after that cleared up, I felt dizzy for just an instant.

Any ideas?? Lexapro - HELP

it could be the dose, but it could also be the migrianes. I also suffer from migrianes so I know what you are talking about. Also I take lexapro and often since I am taking 20mg have suden dizzy spells that usally last only a few seconds, so I oftenwonder if they are related.
I don;t know if this helps at all, but I thought i would at least respond with what info I know.

When my doctor realized 15 mg wasn't helping me they tried me on 20. I tried it and then immediatly said that isn't going to work. 20 mg made me what I'd describe as ADD. I couldn't focus on anything more than a minute or two. I wasn't necessarily nervous per say but I couldn't keep my head still or eyes still and it was like I was suffering severe paranoia just without the fear....... if that makes any sense.

I hope that helps some.

Thanks, Dar. At least I'm over the panic I was in. Maybe it is just the migraines. Wish I had a pdoc. They know more about meds that MDs. Lexapro - HELP

Thanks, Icky. I'm not as bad as you describe, but it gets old feeling like you're just about to get butterflies in your stomach. I'm too old for that! LOL

Hi Tomi..........I'm on 40mg. of Lexapro and never had any of those symptoms. I've actually done quite well with it, but am on such a high dose because of my depression.

Hope things are better for you. {{{{{{{{Tomi}}}}}}}}

That hasn't happened to me or to my husband either on Lexapro. But, there is such a wide range of responses... it seems to affect everyone differently. It gives my husband more energy and it calmed me down. But neither of us had any of the symptoms you described. I hope it passes!

Thanks, guys. I'm thinking it has something to do with the migraine auras I get. Hardly ever get the headache, but I did this time. Still feeling disconnected... sleepy. That happens after a big, long lasting aura. Lexapro - HELP

If at all possible, to be safe, tell your doc about this.
Have your blood pressure checked too, some of those symptoms resemble some that can be related to hypertension and/or diabetes. I hate to sound over reacting, but since my family has these health issues too, and now with weight and age I've developed high blood pressure and didn't know it . . . now I'm on meds for that too. Lexapro - HELP
I just wanted to bring this to people's attention, cause I hate to see anyone mistake a med side effect for something other, and then suffer a potential devastating outcome.
Please take care,
DE

Thanks, Roe. I'm thinking now it could be my BP although it's supposedly under control and I've been told I'm borderline diabetic. I don't see it because I check my blood sugar in the mornings and it's not elevated like I've been told. It's at a safe 100. Lexapro - HELP

Anyway, I have an appt next Wed.

I'm happy you will be seeing your doc. I had a scarey thing happen last week,I was at my mom's setting up her meds. and it was hot in her apartment(she's always cold) then all of a sudden I got all cold, shaky, and palpitations, thought it was possible I was becoming diabetic, I checked my level with her accu-check and it was fine, then I thought maybe the BP pills made my BP drop low, got home had hubby do my BP and it was high, 140 over 110, turns out it may have been my decongestant (still like the ones with pseudoephedrine) plus the Concerta and the stress of being a caregiver, that caused this, it went down after, saw the doc the next day and it was normal, it stinks now that I require a BP pill, when I never had high BP, use to be low to normal, Grrrrrrrrrrrr!! Damn weight and middle age is main culprit I guess, I need to exercise. Lexapro - HELP
Be sure to take care of yourself, many things can up your BP, I can't believe so many things, more than what I ever knew. Lexapro - HELP
Take care,
DE

Lexapro - HELP Would you believe??? I called in one of my BP medicines today. They won't refill them for another 41 days! Take a wild guess WHY! I was supposed to be taking ONE HALF of a pill and I've been taking a whole one! Lexapro - HELP Lexapro - HELP

I've also been feeling like my Lexapro isn't doing it's job. I thought I've been depressed because I'd rather be asleep than up and awake doing anything other than walking my dog. DUH, ME!! My blood preasure has been too low! I have no positive proof because I don't have a BP cuff, but all the symptoms point to it.

I think from now on I'm going to have my personal provider check my meds when I get refills. ARGH!

I'm sorry we're getting old, Roe. Lexapro - HELP I'm still looking for the "golden" in my "years." Maybe you'll find it for us?
