So my pdoc switched my risperidone to Latuda about 5 weeks ago. I was supposed to see him this past Monday for a month follow-up, but his office canceled because he had an emergency to attend to and didn't have anything open until the new year, so now it will be 2 months since I started it (3 more weeks to go) beforeI can ask him this, so I thought I would get some input here until I can ask him for his input.
I had been on Latuda for a week and a half by the time Thanksgiving rolled around. I had Thanksgiving dinner with my mom (she knew my med was changed as I had told her earlier), she said she liked the new med because I was "happier and back to the old Squirrel she used to know". I didn't know how to take this as I didn't see me as being any different and I surely didn't feel different besides not lactating anymore. I didn't know what to make of it. I emailed my T that night to tell her what happened. She didn't have much to say. I saw my T last week and she said my mom was right, she could see a change to. Though she said I didn't look "happier" to her...she could just see a change in my affect, not that I was a zombie on risperidone...she just said I seemed to better affect now. I was not sure how to take her remark either. Has anyone else had a change in affect while on Latuda? Anyone know if this is common? |

Squirrel, I have been on Latuda for awhile and I think it does not blunt my emotions like the APs did so, I appear to have more emotions. It also has a bit of an antidepressant effect to it and that helps some. But, overall, I don't think it changes my emotions or makes me that much happier, it just lets me express them more. The other APs acted like a big wet blanket and killed my emotions.......D.
