I've been feeling really depressed lately. I don't really want to take medication but felt like it was getting to the stage where I really needed some ( I always get worse in winter)
My Pdoc said that he thought the most suitable for me would be Prozac. I thought I could just take it for a few months till I feel better and I can cope on my own again but my Pdoc said if I start taking Prozac I should stay on it for at least a year. That has put me of taking it at the moment.
Has anyone taken Prozac short term? What were your experiences?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Merry Christmas

YES it was my first AD, 30 odd years ago, I stopped after a few months and got rebound depression weeks after. It was worse than the first time and to make matters worse the Prozac would not work again. So take your docs advice ,you cannot just take ad,s when it suits your plans.
Thanks for this!

I'm on Prozac now, great med. I feel more energized and happy. I think that a longer-term use would show you more benefits maybe.
