I took Topamax and did lose weight because it made me not hungry, however, when the generic came out it did nothing for my hunger so I gained weight back.

They call it dopemax, since it can make you stupid and inpair your cognition skills. It can suppress your appetite and makes certain foods taste weird. Best of luck!

Ha ha! I also read that, it is nicknamed dopamax for the severe cognitive impairment. My father took it to help with his Nardil weight gain and it did work for that. He was retired so the cognitive side effects weren't as big of a concern. He wasnt stupid, but couldn't remember anything, ever.

I was very recently on this medication's generic brand topirimate. Only 50mg for about two weeks. Two weeks was enough. It made me tired and confused and as my psychotherapist reported to my p'doc...."unhinged". My inhibitions were out of whack... even started talking to the fish in the tank at the doctors office. I stopped the drug taking 4 days ago. I now have the munchies.

Mind you this is also on top of the fact that we stopped taking out anti d's before that. So gonna wait till this stuff is out of my system and then maybe try another anti depressant.

So did I lose weight? No. Did I lose my mind?. A little.

I did google it and a lot of people did lose weight. You just have to see if you have any side affects and if you do, ask yourself it is worth it?
