What would happen if you were someone who never took Zoloft, and then you took 800 mg of it at once???

My teen just tried to do that, but when I was not looking, she spit the pills out.

I thought I was going to have to plan her funeral this week,

ughhhhh

Thank goodness she spit it out! I don't know what the max is but the consequence is seratonin syndrome. This is an "overdose" of seratonin. You can look up the symptoms. It is very scary. I had a mild taste of it when I started celexa. Your heart and brain race. No sleep. You can get sick if you are lucky... That would get rid of whatever is in your stomach. It can be fatal. I imagine it is a nasty way to die. I'm only being frank because I'm thinking you want to pass this along. I am very glad she is ok.

Glad she spit it out as well!
I believe the max dose of zoloft is 200mg.

200mg is the maximum dose of Zoloft. Most likely, if she had swallowed 800mg she would've thrown them up.

SHE would not have died she could fall asleep or throw up , you could teach her a lesson in not being silly by taking her to ER ,If she had took the 8 to teach her a valuable lessen, ask the nurses to give her the usual overdose drink of a pint of charcoal drink. She may not do it again when black charcoal is coming out every hole in your body for days,

i was on 150mg, 200mg seems to be the highest - 800 seems ridiculously high, i hope she doesnt ever try something like that again, seratonin syndrome is no joke..
i hope all is well by now

I don't get it, she took the pills in front of you and when you didn't look she got rid of them? That is how I read it anyway. So you were OK with her taking the pills?

Or I'm confused?

Without alcohol or any other drugs it would not have been fatal. However she would have gotten very very sick and no doubt would have to be taken to emergency!
