Okay. I started taking Zoloft 25mg yesterday. I was on Paxil 20mg two months ago, but I stopped taking it because it was increasing my appetite which interfered with my weight loss goals. I know that SSRIs should take between 4 to 6 weeks for the full effect, but a few hours after taking it yesterday, I was lying in bed and it felt like random parts of my body went completely numb but especially my legs. Numb as in completely relaxed to the point where I can't feel them, not like pins and needles. It makes me very sleepy. I itch a little too but I can't tell if I itch because I'm thinking about my numbness or if I'm actually itchy.
Today, I took it around 10am. It's now nearly 4pm and I'm experiencing the same thing again. Is this normal and is it normal to happen so immediately? Does this go away? |

Wow, I haven't heard of such a thing, but...... Maybe your pharmacist could say whether that can occur with Zoloft.
If this problem continues, then you might want to check in with your psychiatrist and/or regular doctor. ![]() |

Could the numbness be depersonalization? That happened to me when I was on Paxil.
Zoloft made me impulsive and sleepy. IT ALSO MADE ME SUICIDAL.

I think you should look up things on Zoloft. Right now there is a big lawsuit against the medication.
I have taken it years ago and this is what I realized. It destroys your reactive responses. This is a fact. I have told this to the person or to say more like place I was given it by. They just only seemed to tell me its just a side-effect. That is their answer to all reactions or should I say non reactions to medication. The reaction or should I say non-reaction I got form it. Is that, I could not react. I went through stop signs when I was on it. (...and I was a very cautious driver. I even wear my seat belt at all times and never go over the speed limit.) Anyway... I remember a couple of particular problems. I was not reacting. When I drove my car my hands would grip so tight to the wheel, more than normal. My hands would hurt. When I did stop at a stop sign one time. I could not let go of the wheel to go and turn the wheel. I got really scared because I even had my children with me. ...but I did not let them know what was going on. I remember my daughter asking me why I don't go.I just played it off to not let her know. I was able to go. Of course I did not tell my child what was going on. ...but I stopped taking Zoloft right then and there. I remember also having more suicidal thoughts and yes. I did OD on it. It targets your reactive responses. Many medications actually do this...many are told or think they are getting better... in reality its targeting your reaction to cry and feel and respond. They tell people its just side effects and/or its working. NO! Its destroying your reactive responses. I quit taking it immediately. As I know what was going on and I told my therapist and other one who prescribed them to me. They just had made up excuses for it. ...and seemed not to care much and told me not to stop taking it. ..ad maybe I just needed a smaller dose. NOPE! Couldn't convince me. Zoloft has to carry a warning label that it may cause suicide. I really don't think its the act of suicide that is the issue. Its the REACTION because of the way it makes you feel and not being able to react in opposing to the action ... AGAIN REACTIVE RESPONSES! NUMB! |

One day on Zoloft is not enough time to say anything conclusive, talk to your doc. I tried a lot of AD's and Zoloft and Wellbutrin are hands down my favorite. Give it a chance. I hated Zoloft for the first 5 days. The side effects were horrendous for me but they went away followed by well off feeling good.
