So my pdoc is starting me on this apparently newer medication. Who has experience with it successfully treating your depression? (Zinco, I know you're on it and believe it has contributed to the lifting of your depresson.)

It has been a miracle so far for me. A rocky start the first month with wired and hypo mania but that has leveled out and I am totally depression free for about a month and a half now. there are a couple of other threads on it.

I'm so happy for you, Zinco. I see you're on 40 mg. My pdoc wants to ramp me up to 80 mg eventually. I'll have to search for the other threads. Do I just use the "Advanced Search" method at upper right-hand corner of the screen? When I tried that, all that came up were my recent posts in Daily Ups and Downs and the two in this forum.

I can't find the other one. The search function doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

I did 20 mg for two days and then to 40 mg. I don't think I could handle 80. I have a philosophy that once I decide to try a med I don't want to read anything about it, especially the side effects. I would rather just wait and see how it does with me. Everyone is so much different.

Thanks for that. Why don't you think you could handle 80? What would result - - really negative side effects?

Because I got hypo manic for awhile. It is very activating for me which is what it is supposed to do. I would suggest staying on 40 for awhile and see how that goes.
I don't know why your doc would want you on higher dose. Maybe to give that depression a big blow.

Here is from the website.

FETZIMA comes in 20 mg, 40 mg, 80 mg, and 120 mg capsules.
Your healthcare provider will start you on 20 mg for the first 2 days, then he or she will increase your dose to 40 mg per day. Based on your response to the antidepressant medication, your dosage may or may not be increased above 40 mg.
The illustration below shows the recommended dosing for FETZIMA. Your healthcare provider may have different instructions for you. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions on which dose to take.

Thanks for that info. My guess is my pdoc want to go full tilt right off the bat because my depression has lasted so long, is so severe and has not responded to 3 previously tried antidepressants over the past 9 months. If I start feeling too wired or even hypomanic, I will definitely call him and ask to go back to 40 mg.
