Has anyone had trouble with bad heartburn as a side effect from Lamictal? I've never been a person who suffers from hearburn and this is the only new thing I'm taking. I've ruled out any odd diet things. Been taking Zantac and lots of rolaids but nothing seems to help. The heartburn is constant all day (and night). Primary care doc suggested Prilosec but I've only been on it one day so I don't know if it's helping. I take the Lamictal 50mg AM and 50mg pm - been on it for about 6 weeks and only noticed the added heartburn the last couple of weeks that I reached the 100mg dose. This is driving me nuts. I'm going through Rolaids like candy. Anyone else had this with Lamictal?
Thanks.

Not on any drug but I did just see some info that stated that too many rolaid , tums things can acutally make it worse. I Googled heartburn. Found lots of interesting info.

I've been on Lamictal for 5 yrs. & recently had my dosage upped from 200 to 300 mg due to a bad depressive episode. I am experienceing incredible heartburn. Trazadone was also added & Xanax discontinued so I thought it was stress & anxiety due to not taking Xanax anymore. This is the first person I've heard of that thinks Lamictal is doing the heartburn.

I'll bring it up when I see my meds provider in a week. I was trying to figure out if I was eating differently or what. It is a very painful & long-lasting heartburn to the point that it is difficult to breathe. Almost feels like a heart attack (never had one so I don't know--but it feels as I would imagine one to be).--Suzy
