The doctor at the day hospital I attend has suggested adding a small dose of Lithium (200mg) to help boost the antidepressant I'm taking which is sertraline 200mg which is max dose.

I'm also on Pregabalin 150mg 3 x a day for neuropathic pain and anxiety and Promethazine 25 mg once or twice a day as needed to calm me.

Has anyone else been on a low dose of Lithium for depression? I am concerned about being on so many pills and what the side effects might be? the dr said its a low dose so shouldn't get many side effects but I've read about weight gain and hair loss and needing blood tests etc.

Any advice?

200 mg is very little. I am not even sure you can get such a pill - the smallest dose is 300 mg. I doubt that at this dose you will experience significant side effects.

I personally don't like Lithium but whatever works for you.

To be honest I'm not keen on the idea, especially as it could effect the thyroid as thyroid disorder runs in my family.

My pdoc brought up this idea, and when I inquired about dosage she said dosing could be what it is for bipolar like 600mg twice a day. I didn't think li comes in 200s... 150 & 300s... I would do more research....

It was suggested once to me for the same reason, but I didn't take it.
