I've started taking it just recently. No side effects so far from what I can tell. Too soon to tell how effective it will be on my depression.

Hello!Did you get a prescription from psychiatrists? If so how much does did it cost you? My Psych sent me out with a bag full of the medication. I feel like a lab rat sorry cause I cannot find anything for reviews on this medication. Do you feel any kind of way about this "new" drug?

Yes, it was prescribed by my pdoc. I can't speak much to cost as with my insurance I pay a standard copay.

My pdoc prescribed this in "an act of desperation" (his words, not mine). He never, ever prescribes a med until it has been on the market at least six months, but I'm in a particularly stubborn depression right now that isn't responding to what we've used in the past. He knows I am desperate to feel better, and he is desperate to help me, so he decided to try me on fetzima. I am his first patient he has prescribed this to. He's keeping very close tabs on me, but so far I've had absolutely zero side effects and am hopeful this will work.

Is this your first try on meds? It would seem odd to start a patient on a brand new med on the market with all of the other meds available.

I don't feel like a lab rat. I have complete faith in my pdoc and know his concerns about trying a new med. he isn't doing this lightly.

No not first time on med's. I was on Pristiq and it stopped on me while I was still taking the pills. I am very desperate as well. I been on a week and cannot stop crying, moods, tired, no motivation, not doing much for my pain, just confused to when I will feel better. My Pain doc just dismissed me because "i'm on too many med's" really hard time for me. I just want to smile again! And leave my bed with happiness

What Mg are you on?When did you start? How has your moods been?

Fetzima is an SNRI modeled after a drug for fibromyalgia called Savella. The psychiatrists I work for have been using it and I've heard positive responses so far from patients. If you're worried about side effects talk to you doctor. I haven't really heard anything negative so far. But don't feel like a lab rat since it's modeled after an existing drug. Kind of like Pristiq came from Effexor, and Lexapro came from Celexa. So there's some existing history. Not all psychiatrists are aware since Savella wasn't distributed as a psychiatric medication, and they have made some changes.

Fetzima- by far the worst med I've ever been on...I think it caused serotonin syndrome since it made angry, caused insomnia, anxiety, stiff muscles, sweaty and elevated my blood pressure! Plus it had many med interactions and it didn't help with depression at all! I was on it for almost a month and got up to 80mg! I almost lost everything by being on it! Google it-I recall a lot of others had had similar problems with it as well. Btw it was only $40 for a month's supply. Hope it works much better for you!!

Wow I looked up the side effects of that stuff. Looks worse than the other SNRI's. They will KILL you indefinitely..

I'm not depressed so trying that would be considered as a reckless suicide attempt.

Hi-

Switched from Cymbalta to Fetzima 10 days ago. My pdco has sample packs. First two days, I took 20 mg capsules, then I started the 40 mgs capsules..
Side effects-excess sweating, increased energy, super agitated, ready to argue at any time about anything, flu like symptoms, no appetite increase(actually a decrease), jaw clenching....almost every side effect listed on the insert.
I had a seizure on day 10, went to the ER, and they had no idea what to do with me(due to my medical history and meds). By the time I got there, seizure was over. I did start feeling "strange" about and hour or two prior to the seizure.

I hope you do not experience this. From what I read on another forum, this drug increase the amount of norepinephrine more than Cymbalta or Effexor. I will have to ask my pdoc about this.

I am at a complete loss as what to do.

Hi-

No predisposition to seizure. I have been to so many neurologists & have had so many neuro work ups....I have spasticity which the other drugs like baclofen and tizanidine cannot help. BTW, this really hurts me when I tell the pdocs I am anxious...the clonazepam does nothing for my anxiety....never did...but they still will not give me 2-3 xanax per month in case I have a panic attack ( I know, different thread).

I took a 20 mg capsule to back off of the Fetzima (today).

I have been taking Fetzima for a week. No bad side effects. I dreamed like crazy last night. I have noticed it is activating. Kind of got me wired yesterday.

A little over two weeks on it now. No noticeable side effects except for maybe some slight flue like symptoms. I can't tell though because i am coming off of effexor so it is probably due to that.

At first it seemed to get me kind of wired then that went away. Have not really noticed an impact on my depression. Only been a little over two weeks so we will see.

Really well. No side effects that I can see, and it seems to be helping.

I've been on it about the same time as you Zinco. Only side affects, lack of appetite (yay!) and I get this weird tingly feeling on my scalp. Hose things I can live with. The bad part is that I feel like I've been thrown into another form of depression. Before I was sad and had feeling of guilt and I wept a lot. I started to come out of it but now I'm thrown into this weird place where I have nervousness but all I want to do is be in bed. I don't care about anyone or anything. I know it's only been two weeks but I did not expect to feel worse

Although I can't afford it I made an appt with my pdoc for Wednesday. I hope it works out for you.

My opinion is you gotta give it at least four weeks minimum. Over the years I have learned to do that.

Today I went from feeling totally blah and wanting to go back to bed to feeling much much better all of a sudden.

I'm on day 9 with fetzima 40mg having replaced zoloft 50mg and still continuing wellbutrin 150xl. Not sure what to think. I'm pretty sure it has given me ED which is the worst part for a 20 something year old. Additionally, I haven't gotten that boost yet that everyone is talking about. I'm still not able to think clearly, but that's just the nature of my depression. Hoping to hear more success stories since most of the reviews I've read revolve around adverse experience...

Thanks for the replies! I had taken a month off of the antidepressants to see how my depression was doing without, since I had already went threw withdrawal from the Pristiq. I also wanted to do more research on this Fetzima. I have TMJD (which is jaw problems already). I do not want to risk seizures. I am very scared of this drug and antidepressants all together. And my MD does not keep close tabs on me. I clearly have been very depressed and I might try this for 2 weeks before I go back to MD. It is scary!
