Levomepromazin....

Anyone tried it? I was suggested it for winding down and sleep ages ago, I turned it down because it is a neuroleptic.

It is related to thorazine. But not used in USA to my knowledge.

I'm looking at something to replace my xanax with. I still need it for panic PRN but I don't necessarily need it as a winding down med every night... something else might do. I have a pretty sensitive mind, it's like a dang beast, in the day it works OK but at night it rebels and refuses to settle, much to do with my sensory input problems... I will add I have tried so called alternative methods and the only thing just coming close to help a little is delta wave inducing sound.

I found it is one of the very rare cases where the generic name differs between continents. In America it is methotrimeprazine.

I know zero about that drug but nobody has answered. You mentioned just wanting to wind down. When you said you tried alternatives ... What about Hylands Calms? It says "homeopathic" on the label but it's really just a mix of herbs... Nothing with contraindications unless you are allergic to flowers. It may not work if you are used to higher potency stuff but then it is only about 10usd a bottle. It works for me so it must work for everybody

Also, if you use lavender as aromatherapy every day it has a long term effect rather than just as an occasional "fix". I just read this. Don't remember where. I'm sure you've heard the other standards.

Like I said, I have tried alternative stuff. I was really into in collecting medical herbs at one point in my life and some have a real application. Unfortunately there are no herbal remedies to help me in this case or I would never have tried real medication. (Unless you count in fermented fruits and berries... works like a charm LOL)

Herbal stuff might help with some stuff. Homeopathic... err no. I know people keep confusing those two, but herbal is using a herb as is or treating it in some way (usually to try to concentrate active ingredients). Homeopathic is placebo, and for some reason my placebo response is very weak. Everyone has a different placebo response, sometimes placebo can be even curing. Which I have seen happening. But for me, placebo does very little.

Of course the ideal would be to find a smoother way of relaxing, but I've always been this way. The more I do in a day, the more my mind will scream at me at night. The days I do nothing I have an easier time, but I'm trying to get out of just that.

I would ask to get the Theralen back if it wasn't for this nice fact. Theralen works well with just a sliver of xanax, it doesn't work so well on its total own but works with 0.25 mg of xanax which is half of the weakest pill.

The problem... my nose swells shut. It is very annoying to say the least, if you are then supposed to go to bed. I kind of like breathing.

So yea I am in the market for a new med. Similar meds I have tried for different reasons and not tolerated were; geodon, risperdal, propiomazin, dixyrazine, prometazine and hydroxyzine.

I will not take seroquel, too much diabetes running in my family.

Is there an obvious med I am missing?
