I started 10mg generic ambien on friday. fell asleep in about 15 minutes, slept for 4.5 hours. sat 10 mins, 5.5 hours, sun 30 mins, 5 hours. then mon night it started to suck. took over 2 hours to fall asleep, but slept for 6 hours. and now tonight. well the fact that I'm posting at 1:30 should clue you in. its been 3 hours since I took it. I follow all the instructions like not eating and do all the good sleep hygiene stuff. Can it really lose effectiveness in only 3 days?

How much not eating? I find that being too hungry or drinking too much coffee and even ambien cant help me then. Like if i have 3 cups of coffee or equivalent - i will have a hard time falling asleep.

I have read somewhere, more than three a week, it loses effectiveness. I can only get 10 per month, covered by insurance. Did you call your pdoc??
