I have been taking lithium and wellbutrin for 6 months. The wellbutrin was not helping with the depression so my pdoc added Effexor 2months ago. The Effexor is helping and I want to stop taking the wellbutrin but my pdoc refused to take me off the wrllbutrin. For legal reasons I must provide the courts with a letter from my pdoc stating that I am compliant with my treatment. I don't have insurance and I would prefer not to spend the money on wellbutrin. Can my pdoc find out if I don't have my prescription filled???

A psychiatrist can call in your pharmacy to give you refills, but I am not sure if he can access your history. An article that discusses your issue, as well as the ethics from the psychiatrist's viewpoint.

Even if you don't have insurance, you might be able to get discounts on your Wellbutrin through coupon programs such as GoodRx. Just a thought.

Mine does. He asked me recently why I was not getting all the refills for the xanax he prescribed. I told him I seldom need the daytime doses any longer and usually just take it for sleep.

At least in Wisconsin, a doctor can call the pharmacy to see if you've had a prescription filled. It's happened to me before.

Whether he does or doesn't you should be able to talk to him about anything. I take the same combination and know that even the generic Effexor is expensive. I take 225mg of Effexor and it is the drug that works the best. A few months ago the pharmacy was out of the 225mg tablet and filled it with three 75mg capsules. The capsule route is $100 less than the generic tablet. You may want to ask your pharmacist what the least expensive way to purchase your meds is. You will be surprised what they know if you ask.
Good luck!

Northwestpharmacy.com is a Canadian pharmacy that has great prices! I used them for a while. Shipping can take three weeks so be prepared.
