How to withdraw from Trileptal? I am only on 300 mg a day but my doctor refuses to do it even though it isn't working and is giving me anxiety and insomnia.

I'm am on Trileptal myself (3 x 300mg/ day/ every 8 hrs) for seizures that I never had before in my life until a "nerologist" made a BIG mistake and gave me "Seroquel" in 2006 for atypical trigeminal neuralgia (nerve pain inside my right-side nose after an ENT burned me 3 times with a CO2 laser in 2004) and seizures started after just one dose of Seroquel from neurologist (never took it again) then I was almost killed twice by the seizures and it wasn't until 2009 that I was given Trileptal. I get a stone-head-crush from it now when I try to stop. Terrible insomnia. Looking for meds to give me sleep. Xanax, Soma, Ambien n all used to work. Dunno what to do. I'd like to get off Trileptal, too. I was wondering if Valium is better for sleep than Xanax (all name-brand-only!!). Generics are a rip-off (many). IIRC, before the laser-burn and Seroquel/Trileptal I used to take Valium and it helped me sleep when I would work out heavy in the gym. My *sodium* is also low. Is your doc a neurologist or psychiatrist?

Never heard of it. R u planning to see a dr who listens? There is a link in the stickies for the harm reduction guide. That basically applies to any drug. 20% is a common rule of thumb.
