With Venlafaxine, try not to miss a dose, it only has a short half life and missed doses really mess with its effectiveness. I found I had to go real slow when increasing the doseage. It worked quickly for me but the effect only lasted 3 months, then it stopped working the doc kept pushing up the doseage but that didn't make it work again.
Its one of those love or hate drugs, there are people who it really helps and there are people who will say it was the worst thing that ever happened to them. I figure depression is the worst thing that ever happened to me so I'm willing to give meds the benefit of the doubt.

I have taken Effexor on and off a lot over the years. Overall it has been the most effective for me. Never had any trouble going up or down on dose or with switching to another med and going off of it. Only two side effects, sexual (very common), messed up sleep patterns (common). I always adapt to the sleep thing.

It is the one I started with 20 years ago. I have taken it so much it has just plain quit working.

The chlorpromazine I do not know. It is a rather odd combination. What are your being treated for?

Fetzima 80mg
Lamictal 100mg
Remeron 30mg for sleep
Klonopin .5mg twice a day, cutting this back

Venlafaxine XR (150 mg) is working well for me. I've been on it for about 6 weeks. I've missed two days in those six weeks with no ill effects (today is one of those days). Depression, as TheOriginalMe has noted, is truly the worst thing to happen to me as well. For now, I have not had any difficulty with side-effects. I started on a high dose (150), and the first couple of weeks were a white-knuckle ride, but by week four, those around me told me that they were noticing improvements in my mood.
Thanks for this!

That's a very old drug for psychosis. Most often used for schizophrenia. It is famous for its heavy use the State Mental Hospitals in the US. And then there was the "shock shops" ECT and even Lobotomies. The famous Nurse Rachet. They call it the Thorazine shuffle.

I had TMS treatment done and my friend kept telling me that I had had a lobotomy and it was exactly what I needed.

I was surprised to see your doc prescribed it. I have never heard of it being prescribed now days. I hope it works for you. It was the first big break through in psyche meds.

I know a girl who's pdoc uses alot of the old anti depressants.
