Hey all,
I am going on a plane tomorrow, I am only bringing a carry on bag. So all my meds will have to be in my carry on and go through all the security measures.
In total i will be bringing 7 prescription medications. They are all in their proper bottle and all of them are in a clear ziplock bag,

My fear is that..
they wont allow it
they will whip them out and ask me questions about them in front of everyone (my whole family will be with me and they do not know/care to know the extent of my mental health issues)

has anyone every brought a ton of prescription pills in their carry on??
will the fact that some of them are controlled an issue?

any info would be helpful!!
thanks

They should be fine in their prescription bottles. They may look twice at them to confirm the labeling but will not take them. As you have them in a ziploc bag that will make it easier for them to inspect through the bag.

Have a safe and good trip!

Second what Fresia said. As long as they are in their prescription bottles, I've never had a problem.

I've never had a problem either, including with controlled substances.

Nah, you won't have a problem. I've traveled to various parts of the world & just kept my prescriptions in their original bottles. No one even looked at them.

I don't even take them out unless they are liquid. One thing I recommend is leaving a day or so at home. If something happens to them you really just need a day or two until you can get them replaced. If you are checking you could check them and keep a small supply in the carry on. In all cases do you have a smart phone? I photograph the rx and keep it in Evernote (anywhere you can get to them). Just a nice backup measure.

I need to keep my meds in those plastic daily med cases. I've never had a problem. I don't take them out and I don't say anything to the TSA agents.
I always carry on, but I put my meds in the bag that will go under the seat in front of me just in case I have to check my bag plane side.

I always keep mine in the original bottles in my purse. If you are female, I recommend it since it eliminates the chance of the airlines losing you luggage, and thus your meds, if they are in your carryon...just a thought.

I agree with everyone else. I take a ton of meds. I kept them in their original bottles, put them in a big plastic baggie, and stuffed them inside my big pocketbook. It was sent through the scanner with no problem and I carried my pocketbook onto the plane.

No problems at all.

Couldn't use my edit button...remember there is no guarantee you will be able to carryon your luggage. Many times you have to check it because there is no room in the overheads. It depends on when you are seated. Thus, I would pack prescriptions in your purse or carry them, not put them in luggage.
Thanks for this!

I have had no problems bringing a slew of prescription meds on the plane in my carry-on bag. No one has ever inspected the labels ever. I fly a couple of times a year through big and small airports. Never has a problem. I always make sure that I have a small carry-on bag that will fit under the seat. That way I can put the meds in there in case I have to check my larger carry-on. My CPAP machine cause much more commotion than my meds. They have to test my CPAP machine for explosives residue. That holds up the line. The meds have never held up any line. You're fine.

I've had no problem travelling on a plane with meds but I always take a note off my doctor or my prescription with me just in case I do get stopped.

If you are worried about your family seeing/knowing, etc. I would think of an excuse to tell them you will meet them at the gate and go through security on your own. But I have never had a problem with my meds even being looked at; I only had to take my computer out of my carry-on, etc. I just have a computer bag carry-on and have my meds in there and keep it under the seat in front, etc.

If in properly labeled bottles, shouldn't be an issue. I remember having xanax bottle, cannot recall if I'd also had my ambien. They didn't really check, other than scanner. Should be ok.

Even liquid prescriptions have not been a problem for me. I put all of my meds in a ziploc bag (sometimes even in an opaque bag. Never had problems, but you should play it safe), and then let that pass through the scanner. No questions asked. I've also been able to take liquid prescriptions in my carry-on. Maybe the volume might be a problem, but I've never carried liquid prescs that break the volume limit.

Second this. I think you should keep the prescs in their original cases instead of transferring to a pillbox, etc. My dad, who is extra cautious, will carry photocopies of his prescriptions. He also keeps a copy of his prescs for glasses, contact lenses, etc.

They won't even blink. I travel with mine in one of those weekly compartmentalized containers because all of my prescriptions are for 90 days and the bottles are just too darned big for me to travel with. Some of mine are also controlled. I've never had a problem.
