My doctor percribed me abilify but I could not get it filled due to finance. I have zyprexa and I feel my paranoid symptoms coming on. I was wondering if I could take it as a prn for the symptoms and talk to my doctor later this month. Please any help would be great!!

Hmmm I would try to talk to your doctor about it much sooner than that. I was on abilify for a couple of years as an addon for depression. I don't know anything about zyprexa. Maybe someone else can help you with that.

I didn't pay for my abilify. I got it free through the drug company. My mental health clinic set it all up. I didn't have to do a thing. Here they called it MAP. I would ask your docs about getting signed up for that.

ABILIFY® (aripiprazole) Assist and Patient Support Information

That stuff is like 600 a month out of pocket.

I only know that I once worked in a youth residential facility and we had a kid who took zyprexa PRN for aggression. My guess is to knock her out.

It does alter how your brain functions however and because of that I would be cautious about using it as a prn. There has been talk of using ssri as a prn but I don't know about atypicals. Honestly they don't know enough about these drugs and why they work so I would be cautious period. In the meantime you probably could get financial assistance. Your dr visit is middle of the month? You could also do a partial refill.

Well that was short, last night I grlt terrible and couldn't stop eating. I will not take that med. I felt like I didn't have control of my brain. It was scary. I guess you learn as you go.

I took zyprexa for a bit and when I stopped it abruptly I had withdrawal symptoms.

I took it PRN but most people don't know that taking it start and stop actually increases your chances of TD rather than continuous use and tapering.
