Hello,
I am currently on Lamictal, Buspar, Seroquil and Prazosin. The Lamictal, Buspar and Prazosin have been a life saver! I had been on so many AD and then misdiagnosed with ADD. Finally I feel normal. The Seroquil is the only one I'm not sure about. I have gained a few pounds which doesn't seem too bad but I am getting married in August and I have a dress to fit in. Also, I'm noticing that my dreams are crazy vivid and very negative. I feel like I never slept because I wake up so much in the night just to toss and turn. Is this normal? I feel so restless on this medication and the other night I woke up 21 times! I don't want to up my dosage for the selfish fear of gaining weight. I'm just curious if anyone else has had these experiences. Thanks! |

I've been on the seroquel since 2004 or so. I don't have problems with side effects anymore. However, it does somewhat make me crave food at night so I have to be careful about gaining weight. As long as I watch my eating and try to get a little exercise the weight is not too much of an issue. It does not interfere with my sleep--it helps me sleep.

I get the dreams and interrupted sleep with Seroquel too. But with Seroquel XR that has stopped for me.. Those side effects seem pretty common

I gained 40 pounds on seroquil, and it also gave me quite vivid dreams. I was taken off of it and put on abilify, which I like much better (not because of the weight side effect). I've been on lamictal for almost as long as abilify, which is about 16 months, and I hate it! It helps control my ptsd symptoms, but the side effects are terrible for me. But I love prazosin; I had ptsd nightmares for so long that I would be afraid to sleep and I stayed up for three days and four nights until I was hospitalized. The prazosin has been life changing for me.
If you feel that seroquil isn't helping as much as it could, talk to your pdoc about it and the symptoms. Its really all about trial and error until you find the right meds that work for you. I hope you find your best combination ![]() Sent from my SGH-T999L using Tapatalk |

I ended up just getting off Seroquel and back on Lunesta...I couldn't keep having nights where I trash around and freaky dreams. I want a non-addictive sleep medication but I don't know what else to try that doesn't have weight gain. I used to take ambien but I would fall asleep no problem and wake up once it wore off. I've been reading about Topamax for sleep? Not sure if this is true...I also have a problem with binge eating so I need to talk to my psychiatrist to see where to go from here.

I spent the last year and a half on Seroquel. When I noticed I was gaining weight I walked 26 miles a week and dieted. I've gained and retained all the weight. It was the worst AP I've taken. But everyone is different.
