Hi everyone,

I am curious what others' experiences have been with Depakote ER. I was put on it about two weeks ago when I was in the hospital due to a bad mixed episode (I'm bipolar) and it seems to be helping quite a bit to calm me down and stabilize my moods. I'm also on Pristiq on the advice of my pdoc. I've heard some horror stories about Depakote so am a little scared of the side effects, but for now I'm just happy to not feel depressed anymore.

Is it possible the Depakote is working so quickly? Has anyone else had this experience?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

well it sounds like it is working for you. I tried regular Depakote many many years ago and noticed a difference right away too, but it wasn't good for me. it was making me forget what I was saying mid sentence and I found this very frustrating so I often found myself in tears. so I quit taking it. I am glad it is helping you. take care.
