So I took an atypical antipsychotic for almost 3 weeks only but had to stop because of no response (same result as various meds before), during this, I had what you call a retrograde ejaculation, I'd not have semen while ejaculating... now I've completely stopped the med since 3 days but still no semen, I am really freaking out, is this temporary or permanent? If temporary, when can I have my semen back?!

This may sound funny but I am really anxious at the moment.

It will probably take a few days for the medication to fully exit your system. Have you asked the prescribing doc about this side effect? I would ask.

Thank you for the answer, I cannot reach the pdoc in the meantime.

Any more answers? From previous experiences would be so much better...

Yeah I know it must be a crazy experience but has only been three days since you stooped the med. I am sure there is still some in your blood serum that hasn't been excreted yet. This occurs with many meds. Though I feel for you, man. Definitely get a hold of your doctor as soon as you can and try to relax . It will probably clear up in a few days!

Update: It has been 2 weeks since I stopped the medication, still no semen, only dry orgasms!

I visited my doc (not a pdoc), had many exams, nothing is irregular! Please someone tell me that this is not permanent and it may take a week or 2 for my brain or dopamine or whatever to normally function again!

My doc told me to be patient but I am really freaking out since I've heard about permanent sexual dysfunction due to antipsychotics.

I think it is "good" you are having orgasms of any sort; "sexual dysfunction" usually refers to not being able to function at all. I would work/pay attention to my doc than what I'd "heard". This article might help you feel better?

Wow never heard of that one specifically.

I have had sexual dysfunction problems with all the SSRI's and SSNRI's but not in that particular way.

Another Update

So I ejaculated 3 times (ok this sounds awful haha) between my previous update and today's post. The first one was, as I expected, totally dry.

Now in the 2nd time and before I complete my 3rd week off-med, it was also dry but at the end some tiny drops came out, I instantly became hopeful!

After I passed 3 weeks and a few days and in the 3rd time, there was some, finally and sorry for the word, shooting, yes the amount of whatever (sperm?) is coming is increasing with time!

I am really hopefully that my bladder is being de-paralyzed with time and with a few more weeks, I will be back to normal! Thanks all for the support!

Note: antipsychotics are really strong drugs, only mess with them if you are in total psychosis, my point of view as SSRIs and SNRIs are totally milder compared to them...

zimushka, the mind is a wonderful thing and very complicated.
did you know that people can actually slow their heart rate down to almost a complete stop just by focus and thinking about it..
try an experiment with yourself real quick,
lie down on a bed in a quite room, then focus on the tips of your toes,
work to the joint, keep going backwards, heel, ankle, focus in on just them parts
make sure your mind is centered so only that part of your body is recognized by your mind, work your way through every body part til you get to your mind,
when you get to your mind, let it focus on what's going on around you. listen for sounds you don't normally hear, a bird, a car, a chainsaw, whatever is out side your mind.......when you've done that a few times it will get easier and faster, and you will find your center,
now if you just focus in on your right ring finger your mind will keep call at it
like it just did, you see if you let your mind focus on something too much it will eventually become the focus, if it becomes focus then your not letting your subconscious do it's job. my advice is to simply let it go, drink plenty of liquids and juices, hydrate your body, find center and relax.
remember it is an organ after all just like your liver, it will work itself out
but your mind can't do it's job with you mudding it up with focusing on it.
you didn't do any permanent damage, but you are teaching your mind how to obsess and once it learns that, what's next,
every see someone constantly checking their pulse in their neck?
Seriously, stop using the organ, let it get over it's spell, hydrate, find center
