Hello,

I've just gotten back onto Prozac at the end of November. For the past month or so my side effects have been increasing although my dose has not. Lately I have been having VIVID dreams that last the entire night. I wake up feeling exhausted. I have also been having horrible nightsweats. I wake up some nights and have to change the sheets!!

Has this happened to anyone? What can I do to make it stop?

Thanks,
Jess

I haven't a clue, Jessica, but I wanted to say it's good to see you! Dreams and sweats I hope you get some relief.

I have been on prozac before and didn't experience night sweats. However, I will sympathize with you on this one as I myself woke up last night soaked in sweat and I'm not sure which of my meds could be causing it. It seems to be a side effect that I experience from various anti-depressants and mood stabilizers.

I hope you feel less sweaty soon!!

If you sweat alot while you are sleeping......you may want to get your blood tested for diabetes.

I checked it out online about what can be causing it.
I am hypoglycemic, which is a trigger, but this just started happening about a month or so after I started the Prozac. I guess anti-depressants are a major source of night sweats.

Gar!!!

I guess for the time being I will just have to keep a spare set of nightclothes by the bed.

Thanks,
Jessica

hi shakes,

night sweats are also horrible for me. peri-menapause and take 90mg cymbalta 1x daily. dreams are like watching a live performance, very real & very vivid.

i didn't know that anti-D would cause night sweats. you mentioned about having night clothes near your bed....i do the same, there have been times my sheets are soaked as well.

iare there any AD that won't cause sweats?

thanks for sharing.

Hello

I was on Prozac last year and I had night sweats the whole time I was on it, I used to wake up soaked and had a lot of middle of the night showers!

If its really bothering you or disturbing your sleep maybe talk to your doctor about alternative meds?

Hope you get it sorted soon

Shakes,

I've just started on prozac (been on 20 mg every other day for 12 days now). I have brutal side effects, including awful night sweats, too. I need to change my top almost every night. It's a horrible feeling.

I have just begun to dream for the 1st time in ~ a year or so. I hadn't been on anti-dep's (before prozac) since mid-July, but the one stopped working for me last winter & the other in the summer didn't work @ all. So my dreams are really weird.

Just a thought, but - are you taking your prozac @ relatively the same time each day? If not, perhaps that could be causing the side effects all of a sudden? Dunno. Just guessing......weird. Hope they dissipate soon.

d

Btw: I wake up feeling exhausted, extremely groggy & very lethargic. Dizzy, too. But I know it's the prozac. I hope my side effects wear off soon, b/c I cannot function like this.

I have night sweats on Lexapro (talk about annoying - waking up all sweaty and throwing the covers off when it's in the teens outside and cold cold cold in my bedroom).

I had vivid dreams on Effexor. If I remember right, the dreams got better after a while. The night sweats don't seem to go away for me, though, and I haven't found anything that helps. I'm sorry you're having such unpleasant side effects. What does your doc think?

Really? I didn't know that. I have pre-diabetes, but I take glumetza to keep my blood sugar and insulin levels normal. Still, I wonder if that could factor into it. I'll mention it to my doc. It might be time for more bloodwork to make sure the glumetza is doing what it's supposed to. Thanks for the info.
