I just started taking a very small dose of Ritalin to try to see if this would help me.

There has been speculation that all along I've had ADD since childhood and not bi-polar issues.

So my doctor is trying me in very small doses on ritalin.

I started 2 weeks ago and I feel well. I feel like I can think about thinks a bit clearly.

My question is ...is that I think that I'm having a hard time falling asleep now. My mind is on a lot of different things when I'm going to sleep. Like many many things. I'm falling asleep well after 2:30 am.

I get about 8 hour of broken sleep.

I'm taking only 10mg of Ritalin to start so it's a small dose to start.

Do you have any suggestions?

I'm also on Lamictal, Wellbutrin XL and synthroid and Topomax for migraines.

I do take the Ritalin around 12:00. Not sure if this makes a difference.

Hey there Eva long time no see. Big Hugs 2 U ((((EW))))

IMHO~I never cared for Ritalin when my Daughter was 5 she was Diagnosed with ADHD and the P tried that and I didn't like the effects. So he tried a low dose of Adderall and she just seemed Blah so we tried a low dose or Concerta and she has been on that since she was 5 now she's up on 12 and it has worked for the most part.

YES! It makes a HUGE difference when you take your Ritalin.
Do you take the Ritalin at 12:00pm or 12:00am? What I noticed with my daughter is when the Ritalin wore off you start getting the symptoms of your ADD back and your mind does race and what not. It's not relaxed anymore. What my daughters P would do is he would, and still does give her a low dose or Clonidine to help her sleep. For adults I think past the age of 30 it's a heart medication, but for Children through adulthood it is more like relaxent sleeping pill.

BTW~Did you start having a hard time sleeping after you started the Ritalin? Or before? How old are you? R U in school? Do you do any extra curricular activities? Do you agree with the DX? Just a few questions to learn more of your situation, if that's OK Ritalin ? ? If you don't want to say thats definately ok to Ritalin ? You can PM me as well Ritalin ?

I had the same DX but it was vice versa. Supposedly had ADHD all my life, but it was actually Bi-Polar. It's funny my mom just thought I was a bad kid. When I became 20 years old I seeked out treatment and a year ago was DX with Bi-Polar. It took over 10 years of Therapy and literally 10 P's later to figure that out. Crazy huh Ritalin ?

Did this help at all?

(((((((((((EVAWONDER))))))))))

Always here for you,
Jlove Ritalin ?

when my son was on ritilin it would only work for around 4hours, he would be better of to make sure he took it so it wears of by about 4pm ish he still struggled sometimes to sleep and if it got to much his doc gave him risperidone to help him to settle at night
he is on concerta now and still finds it hard to settle,
i hope that you find the right medication for you
