I just started Topamax for mood stabilization and was wondering if anyone else has found that it kills their creativity? I am terrified of this happening.

Cymbalta, 60mg -- for the depression.
Latuda, 40mg -- for the paranoia (delusional type).
Adderall, 40mg XR & 5 mg reg -- for the ADD.
Xanax, .5 mg as needed -- for the anxiety.
Topamax, 50mg -- still figuring this one out.

MDD, but possibly have some form of Bipolar Disorder. Then again, I could be paranoid . . .

Well, at least I still have my sense of humor.

They call it Dopamax since it makes you stupid...plus for me it was an ineffective med for mood stability and weight lose. Hope it works for you though!

I am definitely afraid of the stupidity too, and hoping it doesn't happen, or that it goes away as it does for some. I'm on day three. So far that hasn't happened yet, although I do feel like one part of my brain is trying to keep up with the other part. But I don't know if that's the Topamax or just me. And my typing skills have gotten slightly worse -- I keep typing the wrong letters, because I'm going too fast. I have noticed appetite reduction, which is nice.

I avoided meds for years because I was afraid they would ruin my creativity, but I found meds which have no effect at all on my creativity. No one can tell you if one particular med will interfere with your thinking, but if it does you can always stop taking it, so why not try whatever may help?

I guess I'm afraid that if it works, and that's the only side effect, I'll have a dilemma. But I am trying it, so we will see. So far, so good.

Hmm . . . interesting. I write, I fear the loss of words. I'm hoping my brain finds ways around that.

I'm going to start working out again so hopefully weight gain won't be a problem.
