Ever have an off day where you felt your meds weren't working fully? I'm experiencing that today. I'm trying to think of potential triggers, maybe not enough quality sleep, too much caffeine, working too many hours. Can these factors cause that?

Sure. I'm bipolar and have learned that anything can cause anything. If it's a week or if you feel like hurting yourself, take action. Otherwise, just go with the flow.

this happens a lot to me. triggers can be anything so well done on trying to think of what may be causing these 'off days'. if we are not aware of potential triggers then we can not change anything and make these 'off days' happen less and less. unfortunately you will probably still have some 'off days' and there may not be a trigger (or one that you can see) and that is OK. well done on taking some charge though sounds like you are doing an amazing job!!!

So many things can trigger! Stress and lack of sleep kick my crap into gear most often. Erratic sleep is out of the question for me. My Dr asks me every time I go how much I have been sleeping and she requires no less than six hours. If I cant get to sleep I am supposed to take a prn med to help so that I don't get short on sleep. It seems extreme but it seems to work. As for stress...I know everyone gets stressed and I get overwhelmed so easy. I whined to my pdoc asking why I cant do these things other people seem to be able to do and they work and everything. She explained Im not like other people. I have bipolar disorder and I have to take care of that to be healthy anywhere else.

We're just different in that we have to learn what sets us off and how to get past it

Journaling and mood tracking helps me. I cant remember my moods really....tracking them helps keep it in check and I know where Ive been and am. Super easy and helpful!
