What do you think a dr will consider for bp1 rapid cycling if lithium and tegretol don't work out?

I'm not sure. Are you just worried that they won't work out?

Depakote is the only other one I know. I know you have been taking Lamictal for a long time.

He may want to try the atypical anti psychotics which seem to be so popular with pdocs these days. I don't know if I agree with how much they are prescribed for things other than psychosis but if they are effective........They can have more serious side effects. Mainly metabolic.

We aren't sure they are. And she said we might have to try something else via phone the other day.

Abilify was horrible for me also! I just posted on another thread, I'm bp1, & I don't know why more psychiatrist don't prescribe Topiramate, Topamax, from the beginning. It's one of the medication, and it's the most widely used in other countries, and it doesn't cause weight gain, and for the past five years it worked better with Depakote ever did for me. Thankfully I've lost the 150 I put on

I take 400 mg Topomax
25 mg seroquel

Possibly, an atypical antipsychotic like Latuda, maybe Lamictal, maybe Cymbalta, Brintellix or Fetzima.

I'm on lamictal and have been since 2008. We don't think it's any help discussed going off of it soon. Latuda didn't help at all

Then there's Depakote, Topamax, Zonegran, Neurontin, Zyprexa, Invega, Risperdal, Trileptal, symbyax, Abilify, Nefazodone, Buspar, Geodon, Seroquel, Saphris, Clozaril and all the first generation anti psychotics. I'm sure I forgot some but idk which ones you've tried.

Has your Pdoc ever considered Indural for the anxiety ? Its often given as a med to calm folks down a bit... I have used it in the past and it was very helpful.

Might as well ask about it.. May save you from going on some harsh AP's

I see my pdoc tomorrow. I will talk to her about it I guess. I really am not sure Neurontin helps or not. I don't want to full around with meds much but I want to be calm.

So I totally feel really good right now aside from some ongoing anxiety but the lithium is causing nausea every single night and I really don't want to have to put up with that
