Fellow medication takers,
I have this brand new FB page on MENTAL HEALTH advocacy - see my signature. The purpose of the page is to provide pragmatic advice and enable mental health patients to better their lives and to become educated, assertive, and poised consumers of mental health services. To start with, I am collecting pictures of various solutions, such as weekly, biweekly or daily trays for medications, to the problem of keeping track of taking medications, supplements, and vitamins. If you are comfortable posting directly to facebook, please post directly on the page. Please post a photo of your solution and, if possible, some written explanation as to why this solution best suits your needs and what its PROs and CONs are. If you are not comfortable posting directly to Faceboook, please post to this thread and I will transfer to FB without attributing to your username. Eventually I will make a FB photo album from pictures of different practical solutions to this very real and important problem. Thanks. |

Thanks! I realize people are unlikely to come out on Facebook as medication users, so I will be happy to monitor this thread and transfer pictures without attributions.

I use a AM/PM organizer for 12hr meds, and I set an alarm titled "Morning Meds" and "Evening Meds." Any other pills are on my phone titled whatever that med is. For ex: 5:30 PM, titled Klopin. Hope this helps.

I usually just have them on my kitchen bench. So before I go to bed I pull out my morning meds and when I get up for breakfast I am forced to see them and that is a good reminder! And then after lunch I do the same thing, I pull my night meds out so that when I am feeding my cat before bed (my laundry is next to my kitchen) I see the meds and am reminded to take them!!! May sound a bit weird but it works well for me

I have 2 weekly pill containers that I fill once a week which saves me time each day: one for medications and one for vitamins and supplements. I have found that, for me, since my meds either have to be taken when I get up, with meals, or before bed, to keep in the kitchen where I am at those times, keeps me from forgetting them less often.
I also keep a spare small pill container with me for when if I am not home and for on the go with meds in particular in it as the vitamins and supplements are not as critical (I can take these later, not as time sensitive), that way it is always there for emergencies; then I refill it after I use them and that way they are always with me. No excuses.

ooooh I also make sure that my PRN meds are kept in my bag at all times so then if I have to go out and need them then I have them handy just in case! a bit off topic, but it helps me to remember where they are when I am at home!!
