So I was prescribed zoloft 50 mg about four months ago. It initially helped with my obsessions and anxiety but definitely tapered off about two months into it. I upped my dose to 100 mg and it didn't help. My hand washing (contamination OCD) and fear is the worst it's ever been. Maybe it's the wrong dose? Maybe the wrong medication? In the long run, I don't want to be on meds, and hope that the CBT therapy will help, but wondering if I should still play around with a different dose or different meds for awhile just to get it under control. I know zoloft is meant to help with the anxiety and not cure OCD, but are there other meds out there that are known to help with contamination OCD better than zoloft? Thank you!!!

I know some of the SSRI's are supposed to be effective for OCD but I can't remember which ones. I think it was discovered quite by accident like is usually the case.

According to that article all SSRI's are equally effective but take higher doses and take longer to work. Up to twelve weeks.
