I was wondering if anyone has has any experience taking this medication for anxiety. It is often times prescribed for diabetic nerve pain or fibromyalgia, but I have seen that it is sometimes used in the UK for anxiety. This make sense because it is a precursor to GABA in the brain - benzodiazepines have a similar effect.

I have been taking it for nerve pain and have noticed that it has helped my anxiety more than it has actually helped what it was initially prescribed for!

If you search "Lyrica for anxiety" you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.
Thanks for this!

Hi-

My Neuropsychiatrist prescribed gabepentin (Neurontin) for my anxiety. I have taken Lyrica for pain....I feel Lyrica does cause an increase in appetite, and I have body dysmorphia, so gaining weight is out of the question for me. If it works for you, terrific!!!

Good luck!
