i asked last week about 'black box warnings' and paxil. well i've been on the paxil 2-3 weeks now and i think my sui thoughts are getting worse. also, i've had the urge to si and i haven't had that in a while

i messaged my t to ask him if he remembers how i was three weeks ago because i wanted to compare to where i'm at now.

i think the paxil is making things worse which sucks because my anxiety has significantly decreased!!

SSRI's at a certain dose do the same to me. I've taken them all, and they're great for anxiety but make my depression worse than it is without medication at all. I took 90mg Paxil at one point and while the anxiety was almost eliminated, the depression was serious.

Maybe you can try lowering your dose? It can be dose dependent. I take 20mg of Prozac now the depression is ok. The irritability and anxiety isn't completely gone, but they're much better. I was at 60mg originally and I was terribly depressed: crying, empty, just awful. A dose change could be helpful.

That's the worst part. I'm on a low dose (12.5mg). i'm really sensitive to meds i think. i really don't need much to get an effect (even at this dose i'm getting the upset stomach and whole nine yards, but at least the stomach is manageable). i'm bummed because it really is helping with the anxiety. on the other hand, I don't want to become a danger to myself and it feels like these thoughts and such are getting worse

From my experience, stay away from Paxil. Can you try another med?
If you want more info regarding Paxil you can go to Paxilprogress.com ., it will tell you everything about it.

Can you try another med? Paxil is the worst SSRI for side effects- my psychiatrist wouldn't prescribe it for me even though I had been on it before. He said Prozac has the lowest side effect profile of the SSRI's. I went to Lamictal with Prozac to just Prozac now and the 20mg alone has been working fairly well.

Or an MAOI like Nardil? There are lots of dietary restrictions to follow but it works wonders for anxiety and depression. It messed with my blood sugar so I had to stop it but apparently that isn't a common occurrence.
