I know I should ask my pdoc and / or pharmacist this question, but I'm awake and feeling curious in the middle of the night.
I'm on Seroquel (200 mg at nigh) and 50 mg, am and at noon. There's a warning label on the bottle that says to not eat grapfruits or drink grapefruit juice while on Seroquel. I also saw in the Mayo clinic drug guide that you shouldn't have grapefruit but it doesn't say why. So I'm curious, what is it that makes grapefruit a no - no with some psych meds. Thanks. splitimage |

Apparently there is some chemical in grapefruit that interferes with the metabolizing of some medications.
The warning is on my cholesterol pills as well. Quote:

I wondered the same thing myself a while back.
Apparently the same thing can happen with other stronger citrus fruits as well. Citrus fruits are clearly evil lol |
