Hello All Hope you're having a good day! I've on abilify for a while but it makes me more depressed so my DR prescribed me Latuda.. one problem.. with my insurance it's still $130.00 a month. I cannot afford that. Are there any antipsychotics that aren't so expensive that I can recommend to her? I can't believe they cost that much with insurance. I'm currently weening off abilify and I take lamictal. SO far nothing has helped with my paranoia and anxiety and I'm sick of living this way.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I think geodon (ziprasidone) has a generic out that may be cheaper. There are some older ones, but they are going to come with a lot more side effects.

I know.. I'm afraid of the side effects. She told me "geodon" won't work for me because I asked about that one. Why won't geodon work but latuda will? Abilify does not. I'm feeling really hopeless because the paranoia just gets worse and worse and is ruining my life. I also don't want to gain weight either which I didn't on abilify.

There is an online coupon available for Latuda that cuts the price about in half after insurance. I pay about 40.00 per month for the medication. It has been a pretty good med for me with minimal side effects. Try going to their website and printing off a coupon for the pharmacy. That should help reduce the cost. Latuda and $$$$ -help!

Abilify can take about 12 to 14 weeks to really start working.

Can you get a 3 month supply by mail with your insurance? That usually cuts about a month of cost off in my experience. I take Thorazine. That's an older AP and has a generic.

You should feel something in the first week with Latuda. It shouldn't take as long as an AD for you to feel some benefit. You are taking at night 'with' food? You have to take it with a 300 calorie meal or better, for it to metabolize correctly. I would give it at least another week. You should start to feel something.

Thank you so much! I take it in the morning and make sure I eat something first.. It has been a struggle b/c I'm not a breakfast person but I just force like a muffin in and some yogurt etc. I don't feel as paranoid and it's only the 3rd day. I was just curious how long until its fully in my system. I started at 20 mg for a week and then I move up to 40 mg. Should I take it at night? My doc said morning but she's been wrong before and I had to switch to morning/night.

Yes, def at night or else you will be kind of tired the whole day. It's meant to help you sleep at night. I'm on 40 mg now. Next week when you start the 40's you should continue to see more improvement. I usually save part of my dinner and take it a few hours before bed. I hope it helps you like it has me. Latuda and $$$$ -help!
