Abilify and Seroquel have crapped out on me. It seems that meds stop working for me every 5-6 months. Anyone else have this problem? Anyways here is a list of stuff I have tried. I need some advice on what to ask my doctor. I want to research stuff so I'm informed before I go see her. I'm Schizoaffective as well as a few other things. The mood stabilizers are good and don't need to be touched but the voices are so loud right now its maddening.... Ok I kinda went off on a tangent..

I've tried:

Abilify (pill and injection) - currently on
Seroquel IR - currently on
Zyprexa
Thorazine
Haldol

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I think you should talk this over with your doctor. There is a lot of information here about the meds we all need if you want to look it up. Hopefully there are others here who can identify with your issues better than I can and can give you more help.

Here is a list of generic names and which receptors they bind to for atypical anti psychotics.

My p-doc told me that you want to try the APs with the best side effect profiles... I couldn't really comment on suitability for Schizoaffective though.

You might find this useful, there is a table with side effect profiles:

I think Saphris / Asenapine, Geodon / Ziprasidone or Amisulpride could be ones to bring up but your p-doc will probably know best. Just an educated guess on my behalf.

Good luck.

I'm Schizoaffective Bipolar Type and am on Invega Sustenna (monthly injections). It has worked great for me. Everyone's different though, discuss your options with your doctor.

Well we went back to the pill form of Abilify. So far I'm not seeing any difference. It's really not helping. So I think we're going to switch it up on Tuesday.
