Do YOU know anything about the RASH this Sulindac insert is talking about?

Thanks...

INFO Found....

Skin Reactions:

NSAIDs, including Sulindac, can cause serious skin adverse events such as exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), which can be fatal.
These serious events may occur without warning.
Patients should be informed about the signs and symptoms of serious skin manifestations and use of the drug should be discontinued at the first appearance of skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity.

Not to scare you, but have your doc check you for lymphoma soon. Does the rash ever go away?

My doctor has ran some blood work for Lupus (came back negative)..... would the other thing show up in the blood work needed to check for Lupus?

The RASH comes and goes...... but lately it has been staying around and covering more of my body than before, and now it itches and leaves me feeling sick - kind a like the flu.
... the rash has been around for about 3 or 4 months now (and) I have Rosacea on my face.

I see my GP next Friday for a follow up -
and then my Rheumatologist the Friday after that..... I have RA & Bursits.

Ok - (thank you) - I will add it to the list that I have been getting together to go over with my GP & Rheumatologist in the next two weeks...... during my follow up appointments with them.

I am not so concerned about the Sulindac now - since one of the members PMed me to let me know that the rash caused from the medicine is easily checked with a liver profile function test..... and I already have that test done every 4 months - so all is well there.

Thanks.... (again)

Thanks..................................... Psisci - Seeking help with Sulindac

ME too - for I am growing ever so weary of doctors right now, after especially after having so many appointments & test done with no RESULTS...... right now my Rheumatologist has me stopping one of my RA meds (Sulfasalazine 2-500 mg 2x qd) to see if it might be the culprit.... but I am not holding my breath.

P.S.

Sulfasalazine

One of its side effects:
A rash may develop which may be itchy, but usually resolves quite quickly once the drug is stopped.

..... I have been three days with out this particular medicine and the rash is still present - but I return in 1 month from the date of stopping this medicine to go over the results with my Rheumatologist. I just hope and pray that my PAIN level does not increase during this time, for I have always had to take two RA meds over the last ten years to control the pain & imflamation involved, and that only controlled it half of the time.

Eeeek!

Reasons to call healthcare provider immediately while taking Sulfasalazine.

Signs of a life-threatening reaction:

1.) wheezing; tightness in the chest; fever; itching; bad cough; blue skin color;
swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.

2.) If you see tablet bits in the stool.

3.) Cramping, belly pain, or bloody diarrhea.

4.) Fever.

5.) Any rash.

6.) No improvement in condition or feeling worse.

Question for Dr. Psisci

In your own professional opinion (and YES i will follow up with my own doc) What would YOU say is the average time that I should have to let pass by after I have stopped taking my Sulfasalazine to see if it is the reason for my RASH, (or not the reason)?

It have been a full week (seven days) so far...... I see my Rheumatologist in 3 weeks.

Thanks...
