I was in the medication for a total of 14 days. He took me off due to side effects, severe anxiety, increased pulse, horrible thoughts, jaw clenching, severe headaches etc. The side effects were the worst, weight gain of 15 lbs in weeks. Upon stopping, abruptly, I was put on Lexapro, I couldn't tell you if it helped me or not because I'd the withdrawl from the zyprexa, however, I took that for two weeks and slowly got off that.
Side effects remained the same as the withdrawl from the zyprexa.

I have been told it could take up to 3 months for my brain to go back to normal. After being unable to eat due to the escitalopram, I am finding that my appetite comes at night. I also am less depressed at night than I am in the morning.
Is the increased appetite and better mood at night a sign that the medication is indeed leaving my body and my brain and body are returning to normal. I still have bad thoughts, but am not as bad as it was. Bad, but again not as bad.
And does it really take the three months for these meds to leave my body. Does it help to take vitamins also and drink lots of water?

I have been off of it since the 27th of November. Just a few days ago I was so bad I was considering going to the emergency room. Today is the first day inhale felt a little hopeful. I just want my brain to go back to normal. Does it really take up to three months. Sorry in an asking again.

hi deeklaver
i have started so many meds that i have stopped after a few weeks or months of being on them due to bad side effects. never once was i told they would stay in my system for three months. i have never had the side effects linger for very long either. they genrally stopped rather soon after taking the med. i had some pretty bad side effects from taking zyprexa, difficulty talking, perceptual disturbances, peeing pink, the contact your dr immediately side effects and after i stopped these went away within a few days. but everybody is different.
