Does anyone who takes abilify experience weight gain? How does one manage their weight or lose weight when the cravings are crazy with abilify? Has anyone experienced blurred vision while on abilify?

Hello, Taylorlamelza1997. When I started with Abilify, I experienced some weight gain and blurred vision. Both the weight gain and blurred vision abated after approximately three months.

Wish I could help. I didn't want to "walk by" without commenting though. I asked to switch off Zyprexa due to weight gain and diabetes risk. So far with Abilify I have lost a bit of weight. Perhaps you could talk to a nutritionist and start some sort of regular exercise, if only walking daily? I don't know, I couldn't keep the weight off with Zyprexa.

Thanks for commenting. Well that's good to know regarding your ability experience. Yeah I'll try that or something.

I took it for a year and didn't have any side effects. But yes weight gain on AAP's is common. Blurred vision is listed as a side effect I believe but not very common.

For sure you need to have blood levels of sugar and triglycerides monitored. If you gained to much weight and couldn't get rid of it that would be a problem because it means it changed your metabolism and can raise blood sugars. People say there are other AAP's that don't have this problem. I think they all have the potential danger.

Abilify made me so jittery, I came off of it after two weeks. I had blurred vision, too. Very unsettling.

I have a lot of physical restlessness on Abilify and I had initial weight gain and I still have blurred vision (since about last June). But it is helping a lot for what I'm taking it for, and the weight gain seems to have stopped to the point I think I may be able to lose weight, so I'm not looking to change meds now.
