I know Effexor is notorious for the havoc it causes when you try to stop taking it. I've been gradually reducing the dosage, and I haven't noticed anything. However, since beginning to ween myself off it it, I've had a few episodes of severe lightheadedness. They were bizarre and came out of nowhere. One of the doctors thinks it could be related to decreasing the Effexor, but the first episode didn't happen until I had been at the new dose for over a week. None of the rest occurred near a decrease in dosage either.
So my question is, has anyone experienced something similar while discontinuing Effexor? Periods of extreme lightheadedness at random times? |

I am one of the lucky ones and have never had trouble coming off of it. I know it is the worst one for most people. If you think you are having symptoms the best thing to do is go very very slowly. If you have a good doc who will work with you maybe they can prescribe tabs instead of extended release so you can split them. Even the extended release you can open the capsule and split the pellets up.
