I've been on Seroquel for about 5-6 weeks now and it's making me crazy irritable and irrational.
The first few times it was only about an hour after taking it ( 10pm ) I was so bad one night I was afraid to leave the sofa to go to bed because I felt if I stood up I'd throw my phone at the tv screen. So I sat and dug my fingers into my arms until the pain over took the feeling of wanting to break something.

I told p-doc last week and he suggested it may just be a breakthrough / side effect and to give it another 3 weeks and then if no improvement to increase the dose to 200mg.

I'm concerned that this might only result in an increase of that feeling ...

The last couple of days it's started to hit Around 4pm. It only lasts about an hour or so but my poor husband and son are really feeling the brunt of me snapping at them for no reason and I feel like I want to smash and break things !

Has anyone else experienced this side effect and does it get worse with higher doses ?

I'm afraid of what I'll do if it got any worse.
I'm not normally violent in anyway and I'm taking the seroquel to treat a bipolar depressive episode.

I've found that most of the side effects I've experienced with Seroquel have decreased at higher doses.

I did experience some irritability on a lower dose - I was snapping at everyone and everything, wanting to lash out, etc. I managed to control it and as I went to a higher dose, it went away.

I'm taking Seroquel for bipolar mixed episodes. I've found that it didn't do enough for depression and I had to add in Wellbutrin.

i wanted to add my thoughts on coming off quetiapine. I had been on quetiapine for 5 years and was taking only 12.5 mg per night for sleeping issues. I had to have an op on my feet and i think it had a really bad reaction with Tramadol. (Not absolutely sure on this, but my Doctor put Q up to 300 mg to get my through a patch of not sleeping) felt very angry and slightly high after this. So stopped taking it altogether and just tried to get my sleep back without it. It did take about 4 weeks but post op a lot of people have trouble sleeping. So just letting people know that is what i did. I didn't have any major affects from stopping and after about a month was back sleeping normally and it seems like my mood has also improved. I don't feel slightly depressed as i was before. Now I will try to go off mitazapene as well. Will do this very slowly. I have posted this as a lot of people have said that going off quetiapine is difficult. So wanted to say that i feel a lot better and it didn't take that long. I would only suggest this under your doctors supervision, because I was taking this because of a tragedy in my life, and probably not so much a mental health issue. Best wishes to everyone out there from New Zealand.

I've been taking it for a year and a half, and I'm convinced that it made me become constantly irritable. Neither my p-doc or GP believe it could be the cause. I am dealing with it though because it is an incredible sleep aid.
