I have been on pristiq 50 mg for 2 years and that has helped with depression. In the past 2 months I have gone up to pristiq 100mg because I was accustomed to the other amount. I also have severe anxiety and take clonazepam .5mg 4 times. I have gotten better. Less depression and anxiety and worry, less paranoid, but has not had the effect that it should, my fiancé says I still seem down and that I'm not completely myself but better. I have been prescribed abilify 2mg to take with the other ones so I was wondering if that will have a difference? Is it common to feel drowsy and tired, and a little more depressed and anxious the first few days of taking the new pill that was added? Is it just going to take a little time for it to kick in? Thanks

hi valerieanne
it does take a couple weeks for meds to kick in and it is common to have side effects. they do wear off as your system adjusts to the med. i take buspar for my anxiety every day. it works great and is nonhabit forming. welcome to psychcentral. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

Everyone is different but Abilify gave me energy. I don't sleep 12-14 hours a night anymore and people have commented that I seem more "awake" and "like my old self". I switched off Zyprexa and take Wellbutrin still. With Abilify there's even a danger in becoming too active or manic.
