Hi,

I started taking Lexapro 10mg 3 weeks ago. I would say that I feel slightly better. I'm still depressed but I'm also noticing I'm happier more often. Hard to say if it's the drug or if it's other factors such as exercising and being social.

However I am experiencing side effects. I get dizzy and am having blurred vision from time to time. Talked with my new psychiatrist today and she said Lexapro does not cause blurred vision and to get my blood pressure checked. Got it checked and my blood pressure is fine. Over the phone she also confused Lexapro for Zoloft, which I am not currently taking. I am having a hard time respecting someone who doesn't even get their drugs straight.

Also she did not go into how effective I think the Lexapro is for me or suggest another drug. Hmm

RamblinClementine, Hello and I am not so sure about your pdoc. Any med can cause various side effects as we are all different. Your symptoms could very well come from Lexapro. Are you on any other meds or supplements? One thing that I have noticed is that docs are not well versed in side effects of meds nor are they well versed with the withdrawal symptoms of medications. Trust is essential to have with your docs. Your pdoc is most probably wanting to wait as it may take longer for your system to get used to the med. Sometimes these unwanted side effects go away with time. I am glad that your blood pressure is fine. I would give this med some more time and if your symptoms continue be firm and call your pdoc back and ask to be changed to another med. However, if she is not even aware of the med that she prescribed, she may be overworked and be serving too many patients. Good luck.
Thanks for this!

Thank you for your response. I am not taking anything else. I was taking setraline and that didn't seem to help at all, so my psychiatrist and I met for the first time after having being seen by a general practitioner. I asked the psychiatrist if it is OK to stop taking the Lexapro and she said that is fine and she'll check back with me later. I hate the feeling that a dr really doesn't care!

In the meantime I will cut down on coffee, which helps my anxiety symptoms, and start taking a magnesium supplement, and perhaps st john's wort.
