I can't help it....I have to say WTF.

I didn't last more than a week on this; it made me soo tired and also irritable. This isn't one that takes a few weeks to level out, does it? My doctor said I had a paradoxical effect from it. This isn't the first time that's happened to me. I am so sensitive to medications anymore. What's wrong with me?

The fatigue might be related to fibromyalgia or my auto-immune disorder, but I don't think doctors really know.

Was really disappointed, I had hope for this one. and was thrilled my insurance covered it.

I have fibromyalgia and I couldn't tell that Provigil did anything at all for me. Nada. Zip. But at least it didn't make me more tired.

Do you have ADHD, or was the Provigil for fatigue related to other things. Sometimes in people who have ADD or ADHD, stimulants can kind of slow things down and make them sleepy. Sounds like you're on Provigil for fatigue though? What else have you tried?

Thanks...The Provigil was for fatigue, memory, concentration, and ultimately-depression. One of the major sources of my depression is unrelenting fatigue and feeling malaise most days for a long time now.

I was the polar opposite of ADD during childhood. When I got PTSD over 10 years ago, I became a completely different person--not just emotionally, but cognitively, mentally, socially, physically. My primary symptoms aren't PTSD now; Complex PTSD fits best. I think the focus, concentration, etc., is from anxiety and depression. But I have major memory problems that are getting worse and are so uncharacteristic of how it used to be and I am not that old. My psychiatrist mentioned neuropsych testing, but I'm afraid to get it done. Like I'd find out I have early Alzheimer's.

The last 4 psychiatrists I've seen just prescribe what I ask, because I've tried a lot. Some are off limits due to side effects or adverse reactions. I won't take antipsychotics because of blood sugar/weight gain though have tried Zyprexa w/bad reaction. Lamictal, every SSRI, Neudexta, Gabapentin, Cymbalta, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Strattera, etc. The only one's that give me improvement are stimulants, but I have an adverse reaction to Adderall, they called it an allergy. Don't like Ritalin at all. Dexedrine has been the only thing that helps with mood and fatigue, but sometimes it seems to make me more tired and increasing the dose doesn't help/has a negative effect. It's just kind of a 'harsh' drug altogether, though I don't really experience side effects from it.

So, I guess I am going to go back on the Dexedrine for awhile to get some relief and then maybe try the Vvaynse in a few months. Two thing I've had consistently for most of my life are insomnia and GAD. I'm a highly anxious person, but for some reason, stimulants don't make me more anxious.

I know I wrote a book but maybe people out there have suggestions as my psychiatrist said there's hardly any options left. I'm feeling hopeless because of this. Wellbutrin and Effexor combo worked great years ago, but I've re-tried it again and now it does nothing.

Maybe ask about Fetzima? It's an SNRI (same class as Cymbalta and Effexor) but it's almost and NSRI because it hits norephinephrine receptors so much heavier than serotonin receptors, like a couple hundred times more. It's supposed to be good for fatigue, concentration and ADD. Brintellix is another new serotonin agonist/antagonist at various serotonin receptors and is supposed to be the best antidepressant on the market for cognitive function and memory. Idk. Something to think about and maybe ask your dr about at your next appt?

Is that maybe like a patent extender for another medication or is it novel in some way?

We discussed brintillex. She never knew anyone who ben fitted anyone, and said all its seems to do is cause diarrhea. Yuck I could take a chance and see as its just trial and error no matter what.

Thanks so much for the idea. I haven't been keeping up on the treatments much anymore, lost any hope. So that's one I'll look into more.

Fetzima's not a patent extender. It's its own med. Its like Cymbalta and Effexor in that it's an SNRI, it's novel as to how much more it impacts norephinephrine in relation to serotonin. Like I said before, about a 100 X's more, whereas Effexor and Cymbalta are about a 1:1 ratio NE to serotonin. That's why it's supposed to be so good for fatigue as all the stimulants in some way or another block reuptake and/or increase release of NE and dopamine. I'm on Fetzima and I have a lot of issues with fatigue that's multi-factorial - auto-immune disease, post sepsis/meningitis/brain abscesses/autonomic failure/neurogenic hypotension and some depression thrown in for fun, and it seems to help some. It definitely doesn't make me sleepy, so that's something...
