I have bipolar 1 and am on a cocktail of several meds. I recently have been prescribed both wellbutrin and a low level of lithium 600mg, to climb out of a hell hole of depression. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with lithium being used for this purpose.
I have had experience with lithium years ago in the past that was horrible because of side effects at a higher level. I have hope that it will help though. I would appreciate anyones thoughts and ideas about this. Thanks ![]()

Lithium is often used in low doses to treat depression that didnt respond to other medications. Lower doses, so you should experience the hellish side effects you did with a larger one.

Being on a lower dose doesn't bother me like it did when it was 1200mg and my level was 1.2 in the past. I am still getting used to it. In the hospital one doctor said "oh just a baby dose of 300mgs" and the next pdoc who saw me later said we'll put you on 600mgs for depression.
I am curious of anyones experience if this helped anyones depression I am desperate to find hope in this.

There is research on lithium used as an augment in MDD. Think it works pretty well.
